Energy Assistance and Weatherization Online Application

Siskiyou County Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

Please note: This is not an emergency/immediate assistance program.
It can take up to several months for applications to be processed & benefits issued.

Great Northern Services use ShareFile and RightSignature to give you a safe and secure way to apply for LIHEAP without having to leave your home.

Why apply online?
Our goal is to make it easier for clients to fill out and submit the necessary paperwork to receive assistance.

No one is required to apply online.
For other ways to apply please visit the Energy Assistance Page.

Before you start the application:

    1. Download and review the 2025 Pre-Application Instruction Packet
During the application process, you will be asked to sign that you received and reviewed these materials found here: 2025 Pre-Application Instructions – English
    2. Ensure you have the correct documents ready to upload
You will need to provide proof of income for all adults in the household, a photo of your picture ID and documentation of your energy needs.
There are examples and instructions in the Pre-Application Instruction Packet.
    3. Document Upload Types
PDF: the most reliable readable digital format to upload and there are free PDF scanning apps available on most phones. Files in the PDF format are the most reliably readable way to give us digital documentation–this is often the format bank statements or power bills will download in and it’s the format most scanners save files in.
JPG or PNG: If you take a photo of physical documents, the image must be clear, readable and capture the entire document—don’t cut off names or dates.
Good lighting can make a huge difference. If a printed image is not legible the state will not accept it as documentation.
    4. Once you start the application you cannot leave/save and go back to it later
Ensure you have plenty of time to complete the application and have required documents ready to upload.
    5. Navigating through the application
Using “Tab” to navigate through the forms takes you to the next required field. However, using Tab to navigate may cause you to skip an essential field needed for your application if it isn’t a requirement for all households. Please navigate slowly and review the information carefully before submitting to avoid delays caused by an incomplete application.
    6. Submitting the application
Only when all required fields indicated with red arrows have been completed & required documents uploaded will you be able to submit the application.
Once you have reached the final page of the application and uploaded required documents to it you will see the “Submit Signature” button become active.
If the button is not active, you can click on the red arrow which will take you back to any required field you may have missed.

After submitting an online application:

    • Add energy@gnservices.org to your email contacts to avoid missing any important communications regarding your application.
    • You will receive an email from Great Northern Services confirming we have received your application, along with some information about the application process within a few days.
    • If there are any issues or additional documents needed we will contact you by email.
Please check your email (including your spam folder) so you do not miss an important request.
    • If we need to request additional documents we will send you a secure link to upload them safely.
Never use email attachments to send documents containing sensitive information–like social security numbers, dates of birth, banking info, etc.
