A new county-wide Subsistence Payment Program can help with utility costs like water, sewer and broadband as well as mortgage payments for owner occupied homes. GNS Staff can help you apply for Rental Assistance through Housing is Key, a program run by the State of California that primarily helps with Rent but can also help qualified households with unpaid utility and mortgage cost for households impacted by COVID-19. - Electric Bills, Heating Fuel, and Firewood
Energy Assistance can help qualified households with electric bills, heating fuel, and firewood. Additional funding made available through the American Rescue Plan Act brings more assistance for households struggling with those expenses. The GNS Weatherization Program makes permanent upgrades to homes all over Siskiyou County to make them safer, warmer, and more energy efficient. Apply online or call 530-938-4115 extension 127 for more information. - Crisis Heating Source Repair/Replacement
If a broken appliance leaves you without heat, your household’s heat source is creating a hazardous situation, or your hot water heater is malfunctioning the Crisis Heating Source Repair/Replacement program may be able to help.
